Our view of the service

Date of Assessment 18 June to 3 July 2025.

Becket House Nursing Home is a care home providing accommodation and nursing care for up to 27 people. At the time of inspection there were 21 people receiving care. The service provides support to older people and people living with dementia.

At this assessment, we found breaches of the legal regulations in relation to Safeguarding and Good Governance.

Systems to identify and follow up on safeguarding concerns were not always effective. Audit and quality assurance processes to assess, monitor and drive improvements at the service did not cover all key areas and did not identify the concerns we found. The environment was not always well maintained, and medicines were not always managed safely. The registered manager responded promptly when issues were brought to their attention.

Becket House Nursing Home had a committed staff team with the right skills and knowledge to support people effectively. They understood their roles in safeguarding people if they had a concern. Staff told us that they enjoyed their work and felt supported by the management team.

People’s needs had been assessed and were regularly reviewed. Staff were kind, and people felt well looked after.

The provider worked in partnership with other organisations including community, health and faith groups to meet people’s needs.

People's experience of this service

We spoke with 5 people about their experience of living at Becket House Nursing Home and 10 relatives. We also observed interaction between staff and people living at the service.

Not everyone who lived at Becket House Nursing Home could tell us about their care experience, so we also carried out structured observations. We saw staff treat people kindly and stopped to chat with people when they had time to do so.

Some relatives told us there were not always enough staff. Most people and relatives told us people received safe care and the home was clean. People told us, "They are kind to me," and another said, "I am very happy here.” Relatives told us that staff kept them informed about their loved ones and their relatives enjoyed the activities at the home.”
