During an inspection looking at part of the service

People we spoke with told us they received regular medical care from their general practitioner, and also from other healthcare professionals such as dentists, opticians, chiropodists and dieticians when required.

People who used the service told us about social and community activities that were organised for them. These included activities that involved interaction with peers such as disco, theatre and bowling. There was also evidence of people going on holidays together with friends and staff. One person told us, I like to go to disco'; and another person told us, 'We go to the pictures all the time'.

People told us they received their medicines from the staff. One person told us, 'I get my tablets from the staff everyday'. Another person told us, 'My medicine is in my room and staff give me every morning'.

People told us that they felt safe and comfortable with the service they received from their carers. They told us the staff asked their views and involved them in their care.

During a routine inspection

The people who used the service told us that they had a lot of choice in their day to day living. People also told us that the staff supported them to attend day centres and other work-related activities in the community.

Four people told us that they felt safe and the staff supported them well. People confirmed to us that their healthcare needs were met, and that they regularly received treatment and support from their GPs and other healthcare professionals such as nurses, psychologist, dentists and opticians.
