During a routine inspection

We spoke to the people who were using the service. One person commented, 'It's fine living here' and 'I go out to the pub but when I want to'. We asked one of the people if the staff listened to them, they commented, 'I talk to the staff all of the time' and 'Yes the staff always listen to me'. However due to the complex needs and different communication styles of people who were using the service the information we received verbally from some people was limited. However, we gathered some evidence of people's experiences of the service by reviewing the care records and observing care practice.

1 December 2011

During a routine inspection

When we visited the service one person we talked to told us that they liked living there, they commented 'If you are sad or upset they give you one to one' and 'I have been to a few places but this is the best'. We asked them to tell us how the staff supported them, they commented 'The staff are really wonderful;' and 'They put up with a lot'. We observed people with the staff and we saw that staff were polite and respectful when they spoke to them.
