During a routine inspection

Five Oaks provided family style accommodation for up to three older people and there were two people living there on the day of our visit. The service was run on family lines and although people had their own en-suite rooms they were cared for as family members. We found the home to be warm, clean, well maintained and comfortable.

The people living at the home told us they were treated with respect and dignity and encouraged and supported to make choices and decisions about their daily life. They told us their health care needs were met by visits by their doctor and the district nurses.

People spoke positively about how they were able to make decisions about their care and thy way they chose what they wanted to do. One person said, 'I make my own choices and I like to stay in my room for most of the time'.

During a routine inspection

People told us they were very happy with the care and support they received from the manager and other staff.

"The owner is so kind and looks after me so well. I can make myself a drink whenever I want to".

"My family visit often and are pleased with the way I am cared for".

"It is like living in your own home without the worries".

Visitors told us they were happy with the support their mother received.

"The staff look after my mother really well. It is the best home I know and I can relax knowing mum is being cared for".
