All Inspections

During an inspection looking at part of the service

This was a follow up visit from the inspections that took place in April and May 2013. Improvements were required in quality assurance, record keeping and supporting staff training requirements. We had not received an action plan to address these issues.

We spoke with three patients who used the service on the day of inspection. They were complementary about the service they had received. One patient said, "I really like it here, they are very friendly." We spoke with the manager and three members of staff. We did not find an improvement in record keeping. There had been some minor improvements in relation to the training of staff. The quality monitoring systems in place were not sufficient to ensure that risks were analysed and acted upon to ensure the safety of people using the service.

During an inspection looking at part of the service

This was a follow up visit from the inspection that took place in December 2012. Improvements were needed in quality assurance, record keeping and supporting staff training requirements. We had not received an action plan to address these issues.

We did not speak with people using the service on the day of the inspection. We spoke with the manager and three members of staff. We did not find an improvement in record keeping. Documentation in relation to induction and training of staff was not available. The quality monitoring systems in place were not sufficient to ensure that risks were analysed and acted upon to ensure the safety of people using the service.

18 December 2012

During a routine inspection

This was the first inspection of the clinic since registration in October 2010. During our inspection, we talked with six people receiving treatment at the clinic and three members of staff.

People receiving treatment at the clinic were very positive about their treatment. All the people we spoke with told us they were fully informed and involved in making decisions about their treatment. One person told us that, 'We do not feel like we have been through a process. The little things have made such a big difference. We would change nothing.'

All the people we spoke with were very complimentary about the support they had received. One person told us, 'The girls and the doctor are fantastic. We were reassured at difficult times.' Another person told us, 'All the staff are really friendly and really lovely. Really really nice.'

Overall, we found that the management arrangements at the clinic needed to improve. At the time of our inspection, records relating to the management of the clinic were not always available. This included training information which meant we were unable to check that the planning and delivery of training met the needs of staff. Whilst there were some systems in place to monitor the quality and safety of care, these checks were not always adequately evidenced. There were also some delays in the assessment and management of risks and appropriate action being taken.
