Good

Date of Comprehensive Assessment: 11 February to 20 February 2026. Sandtoft Care Home is a residential care home providing personal care to a maximum of 22 people. At the time of our assessment, 19 people resided at the home; some people were living with dementia. The assessment was prompted by the length of time since our last inspection.

People were cared for by kind, attentive and compassionate staff who understood them well. They were supported to make choices about their daily lives. People were encouraged to stay connected with family and friends, and staff helped them maintain their personal interests and hobbies. A variety of activities were available each day.

The home was consistently clean, well-maintained and safe. Environmental risks were identified and managed effectively. People were protected from abuse, neglect and discrimination. People’s medicines were managed and handled safely.

Recruitment processes were robust, and staff received regular training and ongoing support. When people needed input from health and social care professionals, staff made sure this happened promptly.
Staff promoted people’s privacy, dignity and independence. There was a positive and supportive culture where staff well-being was valued. This contributed to a stable and motivated team. The registered manager had good oversight of the home, responded well to feedback, and was committed to continuous improvement for the benefit of people living there.
