During an inspection looking at part of the service

The provider told us they had not addressed the compliance action made in January 2013. The provider had written to us and said they would have the records in place by 30 April 2013. The provider told us they had not taken any action to ensure staff supervision and training records and audits on the running of the home were stored in the home.

The provider told us it was their intention to close the home at the end of August 2013. At the time of our visit there were three people living in the home. The provider had contacted relatives and a funding authority to advise them of their plans and make suitable arrangements for the three people living in the home.

We will continue to monitor the home until we have received confirmation of their closure.

During a routine inspection

People were treated with respect and their privacy and independence was respected. One person told us, 'They let you get on in your own way.' Another person said, 'I have enough privacy, they knock on my door before entering.'

Care records indicated that people required minimal support. One person told us, 'There is not a lot staff need to do for me.' Another person said, 'I phone the doctor myself if I want one.' Staff were knowledgeable about people's care needs and were trained and supported.

People felt safe, one person told us, 'I feel safe, this is my home.' Staff were aware of what constitutes abuse and how to respond to any allegation of abuse.

The provider undertook quality monitoring activity such as surveys and arranging for checks of equipment. Records in relation to the management of the home and the staff employed within the home were not always present.
