All Inspections

25 July 2013

During a routine inspection

At the time of our inspection there were 98 people who used the part of the service that was regulated by the Care Quality Commission (CQC). The service also provided an introductory services to people who paid privately for their care. We spoke with 14 people who used the service. We also spoke with eight care workers, the registered manager and four office staff members including the training manager, quality manager, operations manager and recruitment manager.

People told us that they were satisfied with the service that they were provided with and that their care workers treated them with respect. One person said, "They (Christies care) are very accommodating." Another person said, "They (Christies care) are very, very good." Another person told us, "Very good indeed." Another said, "I am happy, no complaints."

We looked at the care records of seven people who used the service and found that people experienced care, treatment and support that met their needs and protected their rights.

We looked at the personnel records of 10 care workers. We found that recruitment checks were made to ensure that people who used the service were suitable to work with vulnerable people.

There were systems in place to monitor and assess the service that people were provided with. Complaints were listened to and acted upon.

31 October 2012

During a routine inspection

We spoke with four people who used the service. They told us that they were given information about the service they would receive, who the care worker would be and how to contact the office. Care plans were regularly reviewed. People told us that they had regular visits when their needs were discussed with them. One person said 'I only have to ask and they do it.' Risks to them and the care workers were assessed and recorded. People's preferences were met as far as possible. The service ensured staff were trained to recognise and report any allegations of abuse. One person told us "I feel safe with my carers. If I don't like a carer, they will change them.' The provider had a comprehensive training schedule to ensure all staff were properly trained when they started, and continuously updated. People told us that they were satisfied with the service and would recommend it.
