During a routine inspection

We spoke with approximately 20% of the people who received domiciliary care from this small agency. This included speaking with three people on the telephone and, by prior agreement with each person, we also visited five people in their homes.

All the people we spoke said they received a very good standard of care and support from 'Olney Care Services'. One person described the service they received as 'excellent'. Another person commented, 'What is so important to me is that I can count on them. I have never been let down. If they get delayed they always let me know.'

We found this agency was providing a safe, effective, and appropriately managed service. We found people were respected and involved in their care. We also saw that the manager regularly monitored and assessed the quality of the service and responded to the needs and preferences of people who used the service.

People expressed a high level of satisfaction with the service provided by the agency.

People told us that the care staff were reliable, maintained good timekeeping, provided a good quality service and had a pleasant manner.

People said that the agency had helped them to remain independent. One person singled out for praise the efforts made by care staff to continue visiting and supporting people living in rural areas during the severe winter weather of 2010/11.
