Date of assessment 9 June 2025 to 4 July 2025. We visited the location's office on 12 June 2025. This was a planned assessment.

Baobab Social Care Somerset is a domiciliary care provider offering personal care to individuals in their own homes. The Care Quality Commission (CQC) assesses services where personal care, such as assistance with personal hygiene and eating and drinking, is provided. At the time of assessment, Baobab was delivering personal care to 51 people. They were not providing care to children or any support to people in supported living environments.

At the previous inspection, in June 2023, Baobab was found to be in breach of regulations concerning risk management, care planning, and governance. This assessment found significant improvements had been made, and the provider was no longer in breach.

Risk management had greatly improved, with personal risk assessments tailored to individual needs. Staffing levels were appropriate, with safe staff recruitment practices in place. Staff received regular, relevant training and understood the importance of person-centred care. Professionals commended staff for being responsive, compassionate, and understanding. Staff reported high morale, strong teamwork, and feeling valued. New staff, especially those from overseas, received excellent, compassionate support. Quality assurance and governance systems were now effective, ensuring accountability, safety, rights protection, and high-quality care. Strong partnerships with health and social care professionals ensured consistent, timely support. The provider demonstrated a commitment to continuous learning, innovation, and improvement. Baobab was recognised as a reliable, responsive provider, actively engaging in sector initiatives and sharing challenges.
