During a routine inspection

During our inspection at Childwall Brook, we observed people's privacy, dignity and independence being respected. People using services had their views and experiences taken into account in the way the service was provided and delivered in relation to their care. Care and treatment was planned and delivered in a way that was intended to ensure people's safety and welfare. Regular meetings were held which provided people and their families with the opportunity to express any concerns related to their support. People were cared for in a clean and hygienic environment which protected them from the risk of infection because appropriate guidance was followed.

There were effective recruitment and selection processes in place at Childwall Brook. All appropriate pre-employment checks were made by the provider which ensured only those people with the required skills and knowledge were employed. There was an effective complaints system available which meant any comments or complaints people made were responded to appropriately.

During a routine inspection

People living at the home told us that they felt their needs, wishes and preferences were always put first, unless there was good reason for them not to be. This was due to risk factors or for safety reasons. Some of the people who used service told us that the care and support offered to them was appropriate and based on their personal needs and requirements.

By making observations and talking with users of the service we found that people's personal needs had been assessed. This made sure they received safe and appropriate care that supported their needs and accommodated their rights. People we spoke with told us they had been involved in their care planning and consented to their care and support.

Comments we received by people using the service included:

' I get everything I need here, I don't want to leave'.

'The staff are good at sorting things out for me'.

'If I need to talk about anything I can do. The staff listen to me'.

'It's been good here for me, but I am ready to leave now'.
