All Inspections

12 February 2014

During a routine inspection

Exmouth Court Home Care Domiciliary Care Services were providing care for two people at the time of the inspection.

People who used the service were positive about the way they were treated by care workers. Comments included, “They are lovely, especially one lady, she is a gem”. One person told us “I am more than happy with everything”.

People told us that they felt safe and we found that the provider had systems in place to protect people from the risks of abuse.

We visited two people in their homes. The care worker who was also the agency manager had a relaxed, friendly and respectful manner with people. People that we spoke with said that their needs were met. Comments included, “They do everything I need, and more”. Records that we saw supported this view. They showed that people's needs had been assessed and the care which was delivered met each person's needs. People and their relatives told us that they had sufficient involvement in planning their care. Records were kept securely.

11 March 2013

During a routine inspection

Exmouth Court Home Care Domiciliary Care Services was providing care for two people at the time of the inspection. We sampled both care files. Care plans had been written in a way that recognised each person as an individual, with their own specific support needs.

One person told us: "I am fully consulted about everything and they always listen to me, they are excellent". Another person said, "They are excellent, I can't fault them at all. They are all very caring, considerate and kind". We were told by a person using the service: "I have my lunch brought up at 12.30 pm, the quality of the food is very good".

We found that care plans were maintained to a high standard, with information readily available in a chronological order. Care was planned and delivered in a way that was intended to ensure people’s safety and welfare.

Staff demonstrated a good understanding of what constituted abuse and were able to give examples; equally they were able to demonstrate what action they would take.

We were told by a member of staff: “I am very much supported by management, any problems and they are always available. My own development and training is always encouraged".

Monthly reviews were undertaken to ensure that care plans and files were still relevant to the needs of the people who used the service. Regular supervision and appraisals were undertaken with staff.
