All Inspections

During an assessment under our new approach

Inspection activity took place between 18 March to 25 March with an onsite visit on 18 March 2026. Hazel Lodge is a care home providing accommodation for people who require residential care, including some who are living with dementia. This home can offer accommodation for up to 70 people. At the time of inspection there were 57 people living at the home. This was the first inspection for this service.

There were robust processes in place for auditing and good oversight of all aspects of the home and care delivery. There were clear processes in place to demonstrate how learning was taken forward. The management team were capable and knowledgeable about the service and the people living there. Staff knew people's care needs and how best to support them, feedback from staff, people and relatives demonstrated this. The home worked in collaboration with community health professionals to ensure people received good continuity of care.

One community professional told us, "We get to have a good chat with the residents when we attend, and they all seem to really like being at Hazel Lodge. The food is a highlight for them all and the activities they put on are great. The staff on each floor always make us feel welcomed and [provider] as a company seem to train their staff to this standard. I would be happy to have my grandmother in care at a place like this which is always a plus."

Staff had a good understanding of their roles and responsibilities. Staff enjoyed working for the service and spoke positively about the management team and the support they received. Staff told us, "Managers know all the staff well and take the time to get to know them and their individual needs." People had detailed risk assessments within their care plans and staff were knowledgeable about how to support people and any manage potential risks safely.

Safe staff recruitment processes were in place. Staff were confident with the level of training they had received.

The environment was clean and well maintained and there were regular checks of the home and equipment to ensure it was safe.
