Our view of the service
Date of assessment: 27 May 2025. Stoneyford Care Home is a residential home providing support to people over the age of 18 including those living with dementia. At the time of the assessment, the service was supporting 20 people with their personal care needs.
Stoneyford Care Home was last rated requires improvement (published 31 March 2025). At our last assessment we found improvement was needed and the service was in breach of legal regulations in relation to governance. At this assessment we found improvements had been made and the service was no longer in breach of regulation relating to quality monitoring and governance.
We found improvements had been made in relation to the oversight and monitoring of the service. The registered manager had upskilled all staff in record keeping which ensured care provided to people was accurately recorded and actioned where needed. This meant people’s health conditions were safely monitored and any deterioration was identified early. This improved people’s outcomes.
Staff took pride in showing us the improvements to the home and explained the training they had received along with the positive benefits this provided to people living at Stoneyford Care Home. This meant the standards were embedded and people were consistently supported safely.
Medicines were managed and administered safely. Where needed, other professionals such as district nurses and GPs had been contacted in a timely manner and their recommendations had been included in people’s care plans and actioned accordingly.
Since our last assessment, the registered manager had implemented a new monitoring and alert system for people at risk of falls or those who needed additional support whilst alone in their rooms. This had improved staff response times to situations including in an emergency and staff were now confident in how to manage and record these types of situations.
