All Inspections

22 October 2012

During a routine inspection

There were 22 people living at the home when we visited. We spoke with seven of them during our visit. We also spoke with the relatives of two people.

People told us they were satisfied with the service they received at the home. They were all happy with the service they were receiving and how their needs were being met. One person told us ' I had a shock as I was not expecting it to be so good.' Relatives told us they were satisfied with the care provided. Throughout the inspection, we found that staff treated people with respect and supported them in a friendly, engaging manner.

People told us they were satisfied with the food at the home and that they had choices at each meal. One person told us, 'The food is more than good.'

People had mixed views about the range of activities available in the home. Some people told us they were happy with what was on offer, but others were not so happy.

People living at the home were complimentary about the staff who supported them. One person told us 'Staff have been very friendly and they help me when I need it.'

People told us they would feel confident to raise a complaint if they needed to. One person who lived at the home told us 'If I told staff I was not happy they would sort it out, but there has not been many times when I have not been happy.'

We were concerned about the quality of records held by the home. Poor record keeping could lead to people not getting the care and support they needed.

During an inspection looking at part of the service

We carried out this review to check on the care and welfare of people using this service.

There were twenty nine people living at the home when we visited. We spoke with ten of them during our visit.

People told us they were satisfied with the service they received at the home. They told us 'could not be better', 'it's very nice here' and 'I have no concerns at all.' people told us and records confirmed they had access to health care professionals as they needed.

We were told the food was 'good' and that people had choices at all meals.

People had mixed views about the range of activities available in the home. Some people saying they get 'bored' others saying they facilitated their own activities. Improvements could be made in the range of activities available.

Adequate numbers of staff were available to ensure the needs of the people living in the home could be met.
