Our view of the service

Date of assessment: 5 February to 13 February 2026. Woodlands Care Home provides personal care and support for people who reside in bungalows which are situated within the grounds of the care home. The provider has 10 bungalows and at the time of our inspection there were 5 people receiving care and support. We carried out an assessment looking at all the quality statements in all key questions. The last comprehensive assessment was carried out in November 2018 and was rated good. Our decision to inspect the service was due to the age of this rating. The provider maintained the rating of good. Whilst the care home is reported on separately, there is some crossover within this report due to the way the services work together.

Staff were knowledgeable about infection, prevention and control and took action to minimise the spread of infection. Risks associated with people’s care were identified and managed to keep people safe. People received their medicines as prescribed, although we identified some minor concerns which were addressed immediately. Leaders were keen to identify lessons learnt following safety concerns and these were shared with the rest of the staff team, so they understood what went wrong and improved their practice.

People’s needs were assessed and care delivered in line with them. People were involved in setting up their care plans and in reviewing their care. People had access to healthcare professionals and staff carried out care and support in line with their guidance.

People were supported to access a well-balanced diet and had access to the care home for meals and hydration if they chose to. Staff were kind and caring and relatives and external professionals complimented staff on their approach and welcome when they visited the bungalows.

People received person centred care and support which met their individual needs and considered their preferences. Staff ensured people experienced good outcomes in line with their aspirations.

Staff and leaders worked well together to ensure consistency of care. There was clear leadership and accountability.
