Date of assessment: 5 February 2026. Woodlands Care Home provides accommodation and care for up to 44 people, some of whom were living with dementia. At the time of our inspection there were 30 people living in the home. We carried out an assessment looking at all the quality statements in all key questions. The last comprehensive assessment was carried out in November 2018 and was rated good. Our decision to inspect the service was due to the age of this rating. The provider maintained the rating of good. The provider also had 10 onsite bungalows and provided care and support to some of the tenants. Whilst this is reported on separately, there is some crossover within this report due to the way the services work together.
We carried out a tour of the home and found it to be clean and well maintained. Risks associated with people’s care were identified and managed to keep people safe. People received their medicines as prescribed, although we identified some minor concerns which were addressed immediately. Leaders were keen to identify lessons learnt following safety concerns and these were shared with the rest of the staff team, so they understood what went wrong and how to improve their practice.
People’s needs were assessed and care delivered in line with them. People were involved in setting up their care plans and in reviewing their care. People had access to healthcare professionals and staff carried out care and support in line with their guidance.
People received a well-balanced diet and had access to hydration stations situated throughout the home. Staff were kind and caring and relatives complimented staff on their approach and welcome when they visited the home. External professionals were extremely pleased with how staff worked with them to improve outcomes for people. Staff and leaders had done some exemplary work around nutrition and hydration and had recently been awarded certification for their efforts. External professionals told us this had improved people's health and well-being.
People received person centred care and support which met their individual needs and considered their preferences. Staff ensured people experienced good outcomes in line with their aspirations.
Staff and leaders worked well together to ensure consistency of care. There was clear leadership and accountability. Staff and leaders worked well together and adopted the providers values.
