During a routine inspection

The home had a relaxed atmosphere and we saw people treated with a person centred approach. Staff told us about a range of activities that people were involved in. People expressed their views and were involved in making decisions about their care and treatment. People living at the home had a monthly review of their care with a member of staff, attended house meetings and meetings which involved other professionals.

We used the Short Observational Framework for Inspection (SOFI). During our observations were saw that people's experience was positive. The deputy manager told us "We strive for perfection." We saw people's health and behaviours were recorded and that relevant health care professionals were involved in people's care or contacted as people's needs changed. This helped to ensure that staff had access to expert help and advice to monitor and maintain people's health and wellbeing.

Appropriate arrangements were in place in relation to obtaining, recording, administering and returning medicines.

Staff received appropriate professional development. Staff received supervision sessions every month. Supervisions covered areas such as; support needs, training and development and any issues relating to the people that they supported.

The provider had in place a range of audit systems that reviewed and monitored how the service was being run. This consisted of reviewing; people we support, health and safety and staffing, recruitment and training.

During an inspection looking at part of the service

People who use the service were not able to tell us about their views of the service they received. A visitor to the home told us: 'I am very happy with the care provided." They also shared positive views about the ethos in the home and how this had impacted on the person they were visiting. We observed that people were comfortable and confident in their surroundings and in their interactions with the care workers.

During a routine inspection

Some people, who use the service, were not able to tell us about their experiences and views of the service they receive. However, through our observations, we saw that people seemed confident in their surroundings and in their interactions with staff. We were able to speak to one person, who thought the service was 'good and bad, but mostly good.' We saw staff were kind and supported people to carry out their daily lives. People were comfortable and responded calmly when staff approached them or interacted with them.
