During an assessment under our new approach
Date of Assessment: 29 July 2025 to 12 August 2025. The home provides residential and dementia care for up to 66 people. At the time of the second visit, 55 people were living at the service. This was the first assessment of the service under the new provider.
At the time of the assessment, the manager was in the process of registering with the Care Quality Commission.
Staff had received safeguarding training and understood their responsibilities. The provider’s quality assurance arrangements monitored the quality of care and people’s experience through its internal auditing processes. However, there was one instance where a safeguarding concern had not been reported promptly or appropriately to families and external professionals. This was discussed with the management team, who had completed an investigation and identified lessons learned.
Medicines were managed safely. Staff had completed relevant training and competency assessments.
Staff and the management team treated people with kindness, empathy, and compassion, and respected their privacy and dignity.
The provider ensured there were enough qualified, skilled, and experienced staff, who received effective support, supervision, and ongoing development. The provider was open and transparent throughout the assessment.
Portable Appliance Testing (PAT) was out of date during the visit, but the provider ensured this was completed within 48 hours. All other maintenance checks were up to date and in place.
The home was clean, tidy, and had a homely feel.
