All Inspections

19 September 2013

During a routine inspection

At this inspection we were told that 63 people were in receipt of a service. Of this number four people received varying degrees of support with personal care. We spoke with 20% of the people receiving a service which included two people in receipt of personal care support.

People told us they were involved in their support plans and discussed changes with their worker. People said they were satisfied with the support they received. They felt confident about raising concerns when they arose and found the manager and staff approachable. They told us their views were sought through reviews and surveys. They thought staff had the necessary skills to support them but did not always feel that they were informed by the service about changes in the delivery of their support. They were complimentary of the service commenting: "Invaluable to us", "Brilliant", "We work as a team", "Very pleased".

We spoke with three staff in addition to the manager and reviewed a range of records. We found from discussion with staff that they felt well supported and trained to do the job well. We saw that systems were in place to capture complaints and the views of people using the service. Service quality was kept under review through compliance monitoring. We reviewed a randomly selected sample of records kept by the service including peoples support plans and found these to be well ordered and up to date.

20 June 2012

During a routine inspection

We spoke with 10 people who either used the service themselves or were a relative of someone using the service and for whom they were a spokesperson.

One person we spoke with declined to comment. Another person told us they were disappointed with the service their relative had received to date. This was contradicted by responses received from eight other people who spoke positively about the scheme. They told us that they were very happy with the service they or their relative received. Comments ranged from 'excellent', 'brilliant', and 'very tolerant of sometimes difficult behaviour'.
