During a routine inspection

People that we spoke with were positive about the care and support they received from care staff and commented that: 'The carers are cheerful and help me with what I need.' People told us that they received care and support in a respectful and dignified manner.

We saw evidence of peoples' preferences in the way they wanted their care to be provided and planned. Care and support was appropriately assessed and documented. Guidelines for staff for the care and support the person required were available.

Records showed staff were trained and monitored regarding the administration of medication. Staff told us they were aware of their responsibilities when recording medication that they had given or prompted people to take.

There were training programmes and supervision arrangements in place to ensure that care staff remained competent to deliver care and support to people using the service.

The agency had effective procedures in place to regularly assess and monitor the quality of the service that was provided to people.

During a routine inspection

People that we spoke with were generally satisfied with the care and support they received from the agency and one person commented that, 'The carers are very good and help me with what I need' .People told us that the care workers were respectful and kind when providing care and support. People felt that the care and support that was provided met their preferences and that their views were listened to and properly dealt with.

However, a number of people told us that communication with the agency's office could be improved as they had not always been informed when care staff would be arriving if they were running late. Staff that we spoke with also highlighted communication with the office staff as an area for improvement.

Care and support plans were detailed and gave care staff guidelines as to how the person wished their care to be delivered. There was evidence of people's agreement, and involvement the reviewing and planning of their care and support.

Staff were trained in safeguarding people from harm and information regarding how to report concerns to the local authority safeguarding team had been made.

The agency had a complaints procedure in place to appropriately deal with concerns and complaints that had been made by people using the service.

During a routine inspection

People we spoke with made positive comments about the care they received and said that care staff, "Are very nice and usually arrive on time". Another person said, "I think the service is excellent". They also advised us that they felt safe when receiving their care and support and that they had received surveys from Home Choice Care that gave them the opportunity to make comments about the quality of their care and support arrangements.
