During a routine inspection

During our visit we met with three senior staff at the registered office and spoke by telephone with 24 people who used the service or their relative or advocate and three care support staff.

People we spoke with told us that they were involved in decisions about the care and support provided and were very satisfied with the care that they or their relative received. 'I have been involved with everything', 'Excellent they are very professional' and 'Absolutely brilliant they treat my relative with care, sensitivity and understanding'. We saw that care plans considered people's individual circumstances and requirements and risk assessments were conducted to ensure people's safety.

Staff were trained with the necessary skills and knowledge to assist people with medication support and or administration and had access to a programme of training including specialist training relevant to their roles. Appropriate checks were undertaken before staff began work including Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) checks. There were effective systems in place to assess the quality of the service provided, including spot check audits of care staff at work and satisfaction surveys to establish if the expectations of the service were being met. People we spoke with told us that they had regular interaction with the registered manager and felt confident that any issues or concerns they may have would be appropriately addressed.

During a routine inspection

We saw examples of feedback from service users and their families. This included positive comments about the service in the form of thank-you letters. There were also examples where service users or their families felt able to contact the service managers and discuss any problems they had with the service.
