The Face Medic is an independent aesthetic service located in Brentwood, Essex.
This clinic is registered with CQC under the Health and Social Care Act 2008 in respect of some, but not all, of the services it provides.
We did not assess, or report on, those services that are outside the scope of registration. Therefore, we only assessed the provision of ear microsuction, weight loss treatments, allergy treatments and IV drips vitamin infusions. The main service provided and the vast majority of appointments were for ear microsuction.
This was the first assessment of this service since registration in March 2023.
We assessed all quality statements across the safe, effective, caring, responsive and well-led key questions. The overall rating following this assessment is ‘Good’. At this assessment we saw:
The clinic had a good learning culture and people could raise concerns. The facilities and equipment met the needs of people, were clean and well-maintained and any risks mitigated. Staff understood and managed risks and medicines well. Safeguarding arrangements were clear and appropriate.
People were involved in all decisions and at all stages of their treatment in assessments of their needs. Treatment was based on latest evidence and good practice. Staff worked with other agencies for the best outcomes and smooth transitions when appropriate. Staff made sure people understood their care and treatment to enable them to give informed consent.
People were treated with kindness and compassion. Staff protected their privacy and dignity. The clinic supported the wellbeing of their staff.
People were involved in decisions about their care. The clinic provided information that people could understand.
The governance arrangements were appropriate to the range of services provided and the small team delivering them. The service leadership had the capacity and skills to deliver high-quality, sustainable care. They were knowledgeable about issues and priorities relating to the quality and future of services, including changes within the medical aesthetic sector.
