During an inspection in response to concerns

Some people living in the home told us that they were happy living in Bathurst House, that they got on well with the staff and that in general they were treated properly and kindly. People told us that they had some choices in their everyday routines, such as when to get up and go to bed and in the meals served. We were told that there were some outings and activities such as going bowling and playing pool, but that in general there wasn't much to do apart from watch television. People also said this was because there was not always enough staff on duty to ensure people could have one to one support with activities. From talking to people it was not clear whether or not they felt able to express their concerns or whether or not concerns would be properly addressed and resolved.

People said they were well cared for and had a say in the care they received. People had choices within the routines of the care home and were treated with privacy and dignity. People felt that food was good and they could go about their daily lives and enjoy activities.

People said they felt safe and could raise a concern if they wished. Quality assurance systems let people have a say in how the home was run and that management listened to them.

People said staff were caring and available in sufficient numbers to look after them. Staff felt supported and confident in the care they delivered.

People said they could access their records if they wished.
