Date of assessment 7 October 2025 to 15 October 2025. Moriah House Limited is a care home providing personal care and support to older people and people living with dementia. At the time of the inspection, the service was supporting 28 people with their personal care needs. The last rating for Moriah House Limited was requires improvement (published 19 January 2022.) This assessment focused on all 5 key questions, safe, effective, caring, responsive and well-led. We carried out this assessment as a response to various concerns we received relating to the safety, care and treatment of people who used the service.

The provider had a process in place for reviewing and reporting safeguarding incidents however not all safeguarding incidents had been identified by staff or management. Lessons were learned from safety incidents or complaints. The environment was not always safe. Staffing levels were sufficient to meets people’s care and support needs. Medicines were managed safely. Moriah House Limited was clean and odour free. People received their food and drink in a timely manner and staff ensured people had consumed enough food and drink. People received person centred care. The Mental Capacity Act was followed for people who were deemed to lack capacity. People were treated with kindness and compassion. Staff protected their privacy and dignity. They treated them as individuals and supported their preferences. The management team were visible, knowledgeable and supportive. Management had effective governance processes in place that identified risks. Staff understood their roles and responsibilities and were supported to develop further. Staff were treated equally, free from bullying or harassment. Managers worked with health professionals to support joined up care for people.

 

People's experience of the service

People and relatives told us they were happy with the care and support people received and felt the service was safe. One relative told us, “It’s her first care home and she was singing and laughing in the lounge when we came in, which is reassuring she’s safe.” People were supported by staff who were suitably skilled and experienced. One person told us, “I’m hoisted and feel safe enough.” People and relatives told us there was enough staff to support people with their care needs and staff were good to people. One relative told us, “I visit every week and in honesty, I’ve not seen a problem. The staff are really good. It’s a hard job.” People told us and we observed that staff were caring. One person told us, “They’re a pleasant lot and treat me kindly.”
