All Inspections

24 January and 23 April and 2 June 2014

During a routine inspection

We spoke about the service with 24 people, including two family carers over the telephone. We asked people for their feedback about the service provided by Colchester Community Care Services DCA. All those we spoke with said that staff respected their privacy and dignity when providing care. People were satisfied with the service and told us that complaints were dealt with appropriately. One person said, 'I have been having carers from Care UK for over 5 years and am quite satisfied.' Another person said, 'All of my carers are very pleasant and I have a good standard of care.' People told us that staff were always friendly and approachable.

We found that staff were appropriately trained and monitored to provide a safe and effective service. The provider had effective systems to monitor the quality of the service which included regular reviews of the care and support people received, and checks on their satisfaction of the service.

During a routine inspection

We spoke with eight people who used the service and one relative. They told us they were satisfied with the service and the care provided. One person we spoke with commented they were, "Very pleased." Another said that the carer, "Did an excellent job."

People we spoke with felt involved in planning their care package. People were visited in their home before care was provided and an assessment of their needs and an assessment of risks was carried out.

We looked at nine care plans. We saw that these were fully completed and contained personal details, care assessments, times of care visits, risk assessments, care plans and care worker visit reports. The care needs of the individual were clearly identified in the care plan.
