During a routine inspection

During our visit we spoke with three people, two members of staff, two relatives and the manager. We observed the care people received and looked at four people's care records.

Overall we observed that people were supported by skilled and experienced staff who understood their roles and responsibilities.

We observed care and saw staff were responsive to people and interacted with them positively.

We saw from the care plans and observations people received care which was appropriate to their needs.

People told us the staff were caring and looked after them well. One person said, 'Very happy here.' Another person told us, 'Staff are very good.'

When we looked at the records we found they detailed the care people required and care was delivered to meet people's needs.

The people we spoke with told us the home was a nice place to live and they praised the staff, who they said were understanding and helpful. One person told us, 'The staff are good and know what they are doing.' Another person said, 'They are very friendly and make me feel cared for.'

People were complimentary about the meals provided. One person told us, 'The food is great we get a choice and the range of options is good. If I want something different I just ask for it.' Another person said, 'When it comes to what meals we like and don't like, they think of everything.'

There was a programme of activities available in the home and people told us about things they had done and had planned. One person said, 'There is always plenty to do here.'

The people we spoke with said they felt safe living at the home and raised no concerns about the way they were cared for. They told us they felt comfortable speaking to any of the staff about any worries or issues they might have.

People also told us that they were asked about their views about the running of the home by the manager and home owner and that they felt confident taking any ideas or concerns to the manager or any of the staff.
