Our view of the service
Date of Assessment: 13 February to 16 March 2026. We carried out a site visit to the home on 13 February 2026, with the remainder of the assessment being conducted offsite. The service is a care home with nursing and can accommodate up to 24 people. At the time of our assessment 21 people were living at the home. Our overall rating is good. We have rated the key question of caring as outstanding. We undertook this assessment due to the aged rating of the service. We carried out a comprehensive assessment and assessed all 34 quality statements from all key questions - safe, effective, caring, responsive and well-led.
People were kept safe from the risk of harm and abuse. Staff were knowledgeable about safeguarding and reported concerns promptly. CQC had not always been made aware of incidents which were notifiable, however, the provider assured us this would be remedied immediately.
People had access to nutritious home cooked food. Mealtimes were relaxed and provided people with an opportunity to socialise. People enjoyed living in a pleasant environment which was clean and well maintained. Peoples care plans were person centred. Care and support were regularly assessed using best practice assessment tools, to help ensure support was relevant and current. Staff worked collaboratively with external professionals. Any referrals made to external health care professionals were made appropriately and in a timely way.
Most staff had worked at the home for a long time and had developed close relationships with the people they supported. Staff understood people’s needs and preferences well. Staff supported people with the utmost compassion, respect and dignity and considered people as part of a ‘wider family.’ The registered manager, who was also the provider, was highly visible within the home and approachable to people and staff alike. The provider had clear and effective governance, management and accountability systems in place.
