All Inspections

During an inspection looking at part of the service

During our inspection we found the home was clean. People told us the home was kept clean and tidy. There were systems in place to manage and monitor the prevention and control of infection. These were based on the Code of Practice on the prevention and control of infections and related guidance, under the Health and Social Care Act 2008. All staff had received training in infection control.

There were systems for monitoring the quality and safety of services provided to people which included collecting feedback from people who use the service. Where improvements to services were required, these were made.

During a routine inspection

During our inspection we observed a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere from the people living in the home and staff. People expressed their views and were supported in consenting to their care and treatment. People's needs were assessed and care and treatment was planned and delivered in line with their individual care plan. There were arrangements in place to deal with foreseeable emergencies.

The provider demonstrated there were effective procedures in place to ensure that people using the service were cared for by suitably experienced and qualified staff.

People were not protected from the risk of infection because protocols based on current Department of Health prevention and control of infections guidelines had not been followed. We found there were no systems in place to manage and monitor the prevention and control of infection, including risk assessments for people living, working and visiting the home.

There were no systems in place to regularly assess and monitor the quality of service that people received. The provider did not have an effective system in place to identify, assess and manage risks to the health, safety and welfare of people who use the service and others. Relatives we spoke with told us they were confident to make a complaint if they were not happy about any aspect of the services provided.

During a routine inspection

Residents told us they were able to make decisions about the care they received and about what they did each day.

Residents were involved in decorating and personalising their rooms.

One resident told us that they were well cared for by 'lovely' staff.

Another resident told us they enjoyed going for walks with the staff and spending time at home.
