There are 10 people who live at St David's Lodge who have a learning disability. The needs of the people are different. The majority of people need support in all aspects of their lifestyle with few able to access the community independently. We spoke to those people who were able to tell us their views. We asked them what they liked about living at St David's Lodge.
They told us 'Sometimes I like it. I don't always like the staff' and 'I like the staff they help me'. One person said 'I don't get on with all the people sometimes.'
We asked people how they were helped by staff and were told 'Help me with shaving. I may cut myself' and 'Put clothes on for me.'
We asked people about activities they were involved with and were told 'Go to Bingo Fridays. Go in the mini bus.' One person told us 'No Christmas shopping yet.'
For those people who were unable to communicate verbally to tell us their views we spent time in the lounge/dining areas of the home observing their routines, and interaction with staff to help us understand their experiences of living at St David's Lodge.
