During a check to make sure that the improvements required had been made

This review was carried out using evidence sent to us by the provider to inform us of the progress made after our visit on 18 April 2012. We also spoke by telephone with the deputy manager at Kingsfield Care Home.

The provider sent us evidence of the system in place to assess and monitor the quality of service provided. This included using surveys to find out the views of people using the service, their relatives, and staff. The provider sent us evidence of the system in place to identify and manage risks to the health, safety and welfare of people using the service. This included reviewing accidents and incidents in the home and using the information to reduce the risks to people using the service.

During a routine inspection

There were eight people using the service at the time of our visit. We met all of the people and spoke with four of them in more depth to gain their views of the service.

People told us they liked living in the home. One person told us they were "very happy here". Another person said that staff treated them well. One person told us they had "independence and support". People told us they felt safe living in the home.

During an inspection in response to concerns

Two people in the home told us 'I like all the staff', and, 'I get on with all the staff'.

People living in the home had seen a physical assault on a member of staff by a person staying in the home. One person in the home told us they were upset that a member of staff had been hurt in the assault.

10 December 2010

During an inspection looking at part of the service

People said "I like it here - I want to stay here", 'I don't bottle things up ' I talk to staff', 'I like all the staff ' we have a laugh', and, 'they listen to me".

People told us the manager was "not always here when we need him" and said "not much" when asked how often they saw the manager. They said they would go to the deputy manager with any problems, rather than the manager, as they saw her nearly every day.
