Updated 3 April 2025
Date of Assessment: 9 April to 25 April 2025. Seven Arches Nursing Home is a nursing home providing personal and nursing care to 25 people aged 65 and over at the time of the assessment. The service can support up to 30 people in one adapted building.
On the first day of the assessment, we found concerns related to infection control, risk, medicines, consent to care and treatment and governance. Audits and checks made regarding infection prevention control and medicines had not identified the concerns we found.
On the second day of the assessment, the provider had taken action to address concerns related to infection control, risk and medicines. Whilst we acknowledge the work the registered manager had undertaken in a short time frame, these changes and improvements needed to be embedded to ensure people were consistently receiving safe care.
Individual risks were not always effectively managed including risks related to the environment and infection control. Medicines management required improvement. There were enough staff who had appropriate training to support people. Recruitment processes were effective.
Improvements were needed to ensure the provider was following the principles of the Mental Capacity Act. Care plans viewed were not always reflective of people’s needs. An activity plan was in place but more work was needed to ensure all people who used the service had equal access to the activities available. At this inspection we found 2 breaches of regulations related to safe care and treatment and governance.
