All Inspections

During a routine inspection

We spoke with three people whose relatives used the service. All the people we spoke with were very positive about the service. One person said; 'They have been super over the years. We have no concerns or worries. The staff are very good and there is a good consistency'. Another person we spoke with said; 'I don't have any concerns, I'm happy with the home'. The third person we spoke with said; 'My relative is always well looked after. It's a home, not a facility. The whole home is wonderful and my relative is respected'.

We found people had been involved in the planning and delivery of their care as evidenced within people's care plans. The service had completed several personal risk assessments for people and had created action plans to reduce risks identified. All staff had received safeguarding training and policies, best practice guidelines and procedures were easily accessible to staff. The service had appropriate arrangements in place to ensure staff had undergone appropriate checks prior to starting work and there was an up to date statement of purpose available in a format that people could understand. The service conducted audits and sought feedback from people, their relatives and staff in order to improve the service provided.

During a routine inspection

On the day of the inspection all of the people living at the home were present; however we were unable to speak with them in a meaningful way, due to verbal communication difficulties.

We used a number of different methods to help us understand the experiences of people using the service. We also observed the care being given and the interactions between the people who use the service and the staff. We saw people responded positively to staff.

In addition we reviewed the records, and in particular those where individuals had recorded their wishes and opinions of the service.

Following the visit we spoke with three people's representatives. They told us their relatives were looked after well.

During a routine inspection

Due to the needs of the people who use the service it was not possible to seek people's views formally. We observed interactions between staff during the time at the home. We listened to hear how the people using the service communicated with staff.
