Our current view of the service

Good

Updated 23 December 2025

Date of Assessment: 12 January 2026 to 22 January 2026. This was our first assessment of this service under their new legal entity and included all 5 key questions.

The service provides personal care services for people living in their own homes in the Exeter and Exmouth areas. Not everyone who used the service received the regulated activity of personal care. The CQC only inspects where people receive personal care. This is help with tasks related to personal hygiene and eating. Where they do, we also consider any wider social care provided. At the time of our inspection there were 32 people using the service in receipt of support with their personal care.

There was a positive learning culture within the service, and feedback was continually sought to improve outcomes for people and meet their needs. People confirmed they knew how to give feedback and were confident the service management would take feedback seriously and act on it. We saw evidence to support this.

People were protected and kept safe from abuse. Staff were happy to raise any safety concerns and felt they would be dealt with properly by the service management. There were enough staff in place and staff deployment was planned and adapted as required. Staff were recruited safely in line with requirements.

People were consulted around how they wished their care to be carried out. Staff understood and managed risks related to people’s care and there were clear and accurate records reflecting people’s needs and desired outcomes. Safe systems ensured medicines were administered appropriately where required by competent staff.

Staff worked with other professionals where required to promote the best outcomes for people. The provider made sure staff received mandatory training and there was appropriate induction for new staff. Staff cared for people with dignity and respect and promoted their independence. We received very positive feedback from the people we spoke with. People were treated with kindness and compassion and had a good level of consistency in care staff.

Leaders were visible and supportive, helping staff develop in their roles. There was a registered manager in place at the time of the inspection. Staff felt able to give feedback and were treated equally. We received very positive responses from staff when we asked about leadership, the management team and job satisfaction. Effective audits were in place giving oversight of quality.

People's experience of the service

Updated 23 December 2025

We spoke with 6 people, and 5 relatives of people who used the service to gain feedback about their experience of receiving care from the provider. Without exception, people and relatives we spoke with were positive about staff, telling us they were happy and felt safe receiving care. One comment we received, similar to the views of others was, “I feel very safe with them, they're really nice people.”

We were also told people were supported by regular staff. People told us staff were effective, well trained and efficient. Feedback on timing of calls was good, with people telling us they were happy with their staff who they felt were good and consistently arrived on time. Where calls were late due to circumstances beyond the control of the service, people told us they were appropriately informed.

People and relatives did not raise concerns about their medicines management. People told us staff knew them well, and they had worked with the service to give a lot of information at the start of their care package. People and their relatives spoke of being involved in completing information for their care plans. One relative told us, “Yes I was involved [in the care plan], they talked to mum also, but I was involved too.”

People and relatives told us staff were kind, caring and compassionate when delivering care. All the feedback we received was positive. One person commented, “They're very kind and caring people.”

People and relatives told us they knew staff and leaders well. The service management and care staff were known by name and said the management team were easy to get hold of and communicate with. People and relatives also told us they thought the service was well run and they would recommend them.
