Our view of the service

Date of assessment: 15 April 2026.

We conducted an unannounced on site assessment of The Hair Dr, Leeds Private hospital due to information of concern being shared with CQC.

At this assessment we partially reviewed 3 quality statements in the safe domain and 1 in the well-led domain.

As this assessment was focussed on responding to the information of concern we received, we did not review the other quality statements therefore the rating of this service has not changed. The service remains rated requires improvement overall.

The provider was in breach of 1 regulation related to Safe and effective staffing.

Governance systems did not reliably identify, or address known or repeated issues.

Leadership oversight had not ensured effective risk management, reliable record-keeping or consistently safe care and we have asked the service to make improvements.

We conducted an on-site assessment visit of The Hair Dr, Leeds Private Hospital on the 3 April 2025. We assessed 32 Quality Statements from safe, effective, caring, responsive and well-led key questions. Our inspection was unannounced (staff did not know we were coming) so we could observe routine activity. During our inspection we spoke to people. We observed staff delivering care and looked at 6 care records. We reviewed policies and performance information from, and about, the service. We spoke 5 members of staff and the leadership team.

The Hair Dr, Leeds Private Hospital is provided by The Hair Dr - Hair Transplant Clinics Ltd. This service was registered with CQC 20 October 2022 to deliver the regulated activity: Surgical procedures. The service had a controlled drugs accountable officer and a Registered manager/Nominated Individual.

The service had not been assessed before, therefore had no rating. At this assessment we rated The Hair Dr as Requires Improvement.
