Our current view of the service

Requires improvement

Updated 19 January 2026

Date of on-site assessment 3 February 2026.

Clarendon Court Nursing Home is a care home with nursing. The service specialises in nursing care for people living with neurological rehabilitation needs, addressing these complex needs with a focus on individualised, therapeutic support. The service can support a maximum of 10 people. On the date of our assessment, there were 6 people living at the service.

The assessment was carried out by 1 inspector and 1 Expert by Experience. Experts by Experience have lived experience of this service type and speak with people and their relatives to obtain their views about their care experience. Where people were unable to speak with us, we used observations of the care provided and the approach of staff.

Staffing structures were unclear, leaving people exposed to the risk of having unmet needs. Clinical staff worked across both this service, and an adjoining service under the same provider. This left a lack of clarity around the staff available in the service to support people’s identified needs.

Safeguarding incidents were not robustly documented, shared or analysed by the provider. This shortfall left the provider unable to share lessons learned with the staff team.

People were supported by a knowledgeable staff team, who showed kindness and empathy when engaging with people. The service worked effectively with external health and social care partners, to ensure people were able to access services when they needed them.

Staff made sure people were enabled to give informed consent and decisions were taken in people’s best interests where they did not have capacity. People were confident their privacy and dignity were being upheld.

People were encouraged to maintain relationships with family and friends and visitors were made welcome.

At this inspection, we found breaches of regulations related to safe care and treatment, and governance. We will request an action plan from the provider, in response to the concerns found at this inspection.

People's experience of the service

Updated 19 January 2026

While people and their relatives expressed general satisfaction with their care and treatment, our assessment found elements of care did not always meet the expected standards.

People and their relatives did not always feel fully involved in planning their care, although the registered manager was working hard to ensure this was addressed.

The service was therapy-led, but lacked meaningful activity provision, or access to a pleasant outdoor space.

People and their relatives felt the service was safe, well maintained and care and support were provided by staff who understood their needs.

People received their medicines as prescribed for them, from staff who were trained and competent to administer medicines.

Some people could not directly tell us about their experience, where this was the case, we observed interactions between people and staff. This approach showed staff consistently showed kindness towards them. People and their relatives told us the staff were kind and caring.
