Our current view of the service

Good

Updated 6 October 2025

Date of assessment: 21 October 2025 to 26 November 2025. We undertook this assessment due to concerns we had received regarding shortage of staff a closed culture and poor practices of care. People and some staff told us there were not enough staff present to provide the care required. We found at times areas of the home did not have enough staff deployed. However, the Operations Director and manager were completing work to ensure staff were deployed all around the home. Systems and processes in place for medicines were not always effective in identifying shortfalls. This assessment has found the provider to be in breach of regulation 12 (Safe care and treatment). An action plan request will be submitted to the provider. We found concerns relating to medicine storage, documents and administration. The management team were responsive throughout the inspection, took immediate actions to address concerns and provided clear structured action plans. Since our last assessment there has been a change of provider. We found the new provider had made positive changes at the home. We saw the new provider had implemented new working ways, recruited a new manager and worked closely with staff to improve the quality of care provided.

People's experience of the service

Updated 6 October 2025

People did not always have a good dining experience. We observed lunchtimes to be hectic, causing people to become angry or show signs of distress. During our observation, one person told us, “They are slow at serving food, not sure why”. However, through the busy periods of mealtimes, staff remained calm and treated people with kindness. Staff interacted with people kindly, demonstrating a clear understanding and knowledge of people’s needs and wishes. People were treated with dignity and respect. People at risk of falls had their call pendant around their necks and sensor mats to alert staff if they were mobilising. One person told us, “Staff always come quickly if I need them”. People told us they had their consent gained before staff supported them. People were involved in their care plans, and where appropriate, relatives or advocates were involved to agree the care required.
