Our current view of the service

Date of assessment was 10 September 2025 to 19 September 2025. This included 1 site visit to the service on 10 September 2025. Shipley Manor is a residential care home providing personal care to adults, some of whom may be living with dementia. At the time of our assessment there were 62 people living at the service. We have not previously rated this service.
The service provided to people was consistently kind, caring, and highly responsive to people’s needs. Staff were observed treating individuals with dignity and compassion, fostering strong, respectful relationships built on trust. Care was person-centred, with people’s preferences and goals actively listened to and reflected in the support they received. The service demonstrated a strong commitment to effective care by ensuring staff had the skills and knowledge required, supporting positive outcomes for people. Workforce wellbeing was a clear priority, with staff feeling valued, supported, and motivated, contributing directly to the high standard of care delivered. However, we found some improvement was needed in the management of medicines to ensure this was delivered to the same standard as the care.
People's experience of the service

People spoke extremely positively about their experiences of care, consistently describing a warm, welcoming, and supportive environment. Their feedback reflected a strong sense of trust and satisfaction in the service and the staff who support them. One person shared, “Nothing is too much to ask them for,” highlighting the team’s responsiveness and willingness to go above and beyond.
People felt valued, safe, and genuinely cared for. The service also supported people to enjoy meaningful activities and their surroundings, as reflected by a person who said, “I would tell anyone to come and live here. We went on the canal for a walk yesterday, and the garden is fabulous.” Another person told us, “I love watching football which I can have on in my room, and we are going to start playing bowls and I can get a pool table.”
Relatives also expressed deep appreciation, with one saying, “[Family member] is looked after beautifully here, they really are wonderful, always happy and friendly.” Another commented, “They are brilliant here, I would willingly move in, it is always like this here.”
These reflections show the provider and staff listen to and values people’s voices, creating an environment where individuals feel truly at home.
