During an assessment under our new approach

Date of Assessment: 25 and 27 February 2026. Off site assessment activity took place between 2 and 4 March 2026.

Anglebury Court is registered to provide accommodation and personal care for up to 32 older people. At the time of the inspection there were 31 people living at the home. The home was divided into four distinct areas, each had its own kitchen, dining room / lounge area.

This assessment reviewed the quality statements in the key questions safe, effective, caring, responsive and well-led.

We noted some aspects of the environment, record keeping, managing medicines and staffing levels needed improving. Although these were raised with the manager and addressed immediately, we were concerned that internal auditing had not identified these in the first instance.

We observed medicines being given by a safe method during our visit, however there were distractions during the morning medicine round and staff were being interrupted whilst giving medicines. The management team were addressing this, one way was by reminding staff not to disturb staff whilst doing medication rounds.

There were sufficient staff on shift to meet people’s overall needs. However, feedback from some relatives and staff indicated that staffing was not always adequate to meet people’s individual needs. We found staff were appropriately trained, safe recruitment processes were followed and staff understood how to ensure people’s rights were fully respected and people’s independence was maintained.

Everyone we spoke with told us they, or their loved one felt safe and that staff knew people well. Care plans were detailed and provided sufficient guidance to staff to keep people safe.

People were protected from the risk of harm and abuse; safeguarding processes were clear and robust. Risks to people were assessed, reviewed, and managed well to ensure they remained safe.

The provider had structures and policies in place to support workforce well being and enablement.

Any lessons learned were shared wider within the Care Dorset group, and well established links had been made with external professionals to promote an open culture that was keen to improve.
