Date of Assessment: 27 January 2026. The service is a care home providing support to adults living with learning disabilities or autistic spectrum disorder, mental health needs, dementia, sensory impairments and physical disabilities. This assessment was carried out due to the age of the rating for the service.
We assessed the service against ‘Right support, right care, right culture’ to make judgements about whether the provider guaranteed people with a learning disability and autistic people respect, equality, dignity, choice, independence and access to local communities that most people take for granted. We found the service provided care in a manner that met this guidance.
People received safe care that was based on their individually assessed needs. People were protected from the risk of abuse and care was provided by appropriately skilled and sufficient numbers of staff. The risk of infection was managed effectively and medicines were managed safely. There was a strong learning culture at the service driven by the registered manager who was passionate about learning from incidents and positive events.
People’s health needs were met and care was centred around each person and agreed with each individual and their relatives if appropriate. People were treated with kindness and compassion by staff who had been safely recruited.
There were effective systems in place to monitor safety and quality at the service. There was a positive culture that promoted positive outcomes for people and the wellbeing of staff. People and staff felt listened to and involved with the service.
However, some improvements were required to ensure the principles of the Mental Capacity Act 2005 were consistently followed and changes were required to ensure the communal areas of the home were less clinical.
