Date of assessment: 25 February to 4 March 2025. We visited the service unannounced on 25 February 2025 and announced on 26 February 2025. This is the first assessment for this service since it was registered.
Watermead Rose provided people with safe, compassionate care in a clean and well-maintained environment. The service was well-staffed, and the staff team trained, competent and caring. Risks were assessed and planned for. Managers and staff were knowledgeable about the people they supported and knew how to protect their well-being.
Staff assessed people’s needs and created care plans to show how these would be met. Care plans were personalised and included people’s life histories, individual preferences, and interests. Staff worked with other health and social care professionals to ensure people had the support and care they needed. People made choices and consented to their care.
People were treated with kindness and empathy. Staff encouraged people to maintain and increase their independence and make decisions about their care and support. The service provided a range of group and individual activities which catered for the varied interests of the people using the service.
The provider used a range of audits and checks to monitor and improve the service. The staff worked in partnership with other health and social care professionals to follow best practice. The service had an inclusive and positive culture of continuous learning and improvement. People and staff were valued and supported.
During our inspection visit we used CQC’s Short Observational Framework for Inspection (SOFI). SOFI is a way of observing care to help us understand the experience of people who could not talk with us.
