Glen Arun Care Home

Date of assessment: 17 to 24 March 2026.

Glen Arun Care Home is a care home providing support to people living with dementia and / or nursing needs. There were 50 people living at the service on the day of our visit. This assessment was undertaken due to the age of the service’s rating and because of concerns we received about the quality of care.

We did not find any concerns during our assessment.

At the time of the assessment the registered manager was away from the service on long-term leave. The service was being managed by the deputy manager.

People received safe care that was based on their individual needs.They were involved in decisions about their care. People had enough to eat and drink to stay healthy. Staff monitored people’s health to support healthy living.

Staff treated people with kindness and compassion. They treated them as individuals and supported their preferences. People had choice in their care. Staff responded to people in a timely way.

There was a shared vision and culture based on providing a good standard of care to people. The deputy manager was visible, knowledgeable and supportive. Staff felt supported to give feedback and were treated equally, free from bullying or harassment. Staff understood their roles and responsibilities.

People and their relatives were positive about the quality of care. They were involved in the planning of their care. They told us they were happy with the service and described it as having ‘a calm and friendly feel.’ Feedback from relatives also included, “[Name] has received good nursing care at Glen Arun Care Home. We have been kept informed of any concerns about them in a professional way. Their carers seem happy and friendly to us and to [Name] and they are now feeling settled there. The food is very good which is important for [Name].”

People said they received high quality care from knowledgeable staff who treated them as individuals. People told us how they were able to make choices and received care in accordance with their wishes.

People told us the staff were kind and caring and they felt safe at Glen Arun Care Home.
