Updated 4 November 2025
Date of inspection: 4 November to 18 November 2025. Grove House Residential Care Home is a care home providing accommodation for persons who require nursing or personal care. It is registered to provide care for up to 29 older people. This inspection was completed to check compliance with the conditions placed on the provider’s registration at the last inspection. We found overall the issues raised at the last inspection had been addressed. This included the significant risks identified in relation to the fire risk assessment and the management of the risk associated with Legionella. Processes to support safe medicines practices had also significantly improved.
Whilst we found action had been taken to address issues of concern, there remained some areas needing further improvement. We therefore found the provider continued to be in breach of 2 legal regulations in relation to safe care and treatment, and good governance. The provider had introduced a range of quality assurance tools, but these were still to be fully embedded. Some records continued to lack information and improvements to the environment were ongoing. Where accidents and incidents took place, managers reviewed them to identify trends and any learning from them.
During the inspection we spoke with people who lived at the service, relatives, staff, and the managers of the service. We observed interactions between people and staff. On the day of our visit, there were sufficient levels of care staff to support people’s day to day needs. People were offered choices of food and drink. Arrangements were in place for cleaning of the home on a daily basis but there were some areas in relation to infection prevention and control that needed improvement.
Staff completed training relevant to their roles to keep their skills and practice updated.
The provider had a management consultant working with them to help make and sustain improvements to the service. Managers worked with external teams to ensure people received the care they needed. It was evident the management team were committed to further ongoing improvements. Areas we had identified needing immediate attention on the day of our visit were completed on the same day.
