We spoke with twenty people who used the service or their relatives. They were all very positive about the care and support they received from Leeds Shared Lives. People told us they had been consulted about the support packages they received and their support plans had been discussed with them.

People told us they had been given written information about the services the provider offered. One person said, 'I was visited by the link worker before the service started and provided with useful information about Leeds Shared Lives, the range of services they provided and the complaints procedure." Another person said "I am extremely pleased with the service I receive the staff are always very pleasant and have never let me down."

In addition to the manager and six link worker's we spoke with five care staff employed by the service. The staff told us they enjoyed working for the service and always respected people's rights to privacy and dignity when providing care and support. They also told us they provided care and support in line with their agreed care plan.

We found the service had quality assurance systems in place which monitored the quality of the service provided and ensured compliance with the essential standards of quality and safety.

The people we spoke with were very complementary about the care and support provided by the staff employed by the service. One person told us, 'Although I have only used the service a short period of time all the staff are very good and look after me very well.' Another person said, 'The staff arrive on time and always make sure I have everything I need before they leave, I am very pleased with all aspects of the service.'

We saw care plans were detailed and included different options where these were appropriate and this enabled people to make an informed choice.

People said they were involved in planning their care. They also said if they were to raise any concerns these would be listened to and addressed.

The staff we spoke with told us there were clear lines of communication and accountability within the service and they were well supported throughout. They were aware of the policies and procedures in place to guide them on how to report and recognise abuse.
