During a routine inspection

People told us that they were happy with the service they received from Bluebird Care Croydon. One person said, 'I get the same carer every week. They do a great job and I am very pleased with what they do for me".

People said that they had had their needs properly assessed, one person told us, "The introduction we had to the service was good, someone came round and did an assessment of what Mum needed to be done and then we got a care plan that said what would be done and when'. Another person said, 'The Manager came round and talked through with me what I needed to be done, it's all gone well since then'.

We found that people experienced consistency and continuity in the provision of their care and that they appreciated this. A relative of a service user said, 'They provide very good and consistent care from the same group of carers'.

People told us that their dignity and their rights had been respected and that they knew how to make a complaint if they wanted to.

During a routine inspection

The people who use this service told us that they like to be called service users. They told us that their care needs were assessed and that they had a copy of their care plan in their homes. One person said, 'yes someone came round and did an assessment of what I needed to be done and then a care plan was made showing what would be done and when'. Another person said, 'I think it was the care co-ordinator who came round and assessed my needs right at the start'.

People we spoke with were happy with the care and support they received. One person said, 'My care worker always asks me how I like my care to be given, she's very kind actually and helpful'. People told us that their carers were mostly punctual and that they were reliable. They told us that the Agency informed them if there were any changes or the carer was likely to be late. One person told us, 'Our carers are reliable and punctual and if there is a problem they do notify us'.

Overall, we have found that Bluebird Care meets the essential standards but to maintain this we have suggested that some improvements are made. Please see main report for this information.
