All Inspections

During a routine inspection

All three people who used the service had lived at Richford Street for many years, some over 20. We spoke with two people who used the service and looked at the feedback questionnaires the provider had sent to them in April 2013. People felt that their needs were met and that they were able to make choices about their lives. During our inspection we observed positive interactions between staff and the people living there. Staff were aware of their needs and spoke to them in a friendly and inclusive manner.

Care was person-centred and people were supported to make decisions about their care by providing information in a format that met their needs. Care was planned and delivered in a way to ensure people's safety and welfare. People's needs were assessed and reviewed throughout the year or if a person's needs changed.

People were cared for by suitably skilled staff, who had undergone the necessary checks before they started work. Staff were aware of their roles and responsibilities should an emergency arise and the provider ensured staff had access to a manager 24 hours a day who they could contact for advice.

There were systems in place to monitor the quality of service provided and to ensure that the environment was suitably designed and adequately maintained. People were encouraged to provide both formal and informal feedback. The provider carried out monthly inspections in relation to the quality of care and the safety of the environment.

During a routine inspection

People told us that they were happy with the service being provided by staff at Richford Street. They told us they liked the food and that staff were good. We saw positive interactions between people who use the services and the staff and it was evident that staff know and understand the needs of the people who use the service.

We were told that if for any reason people were not happy about anything in their home, they would report it to staff.
