During a routine inspection

We spoke with three people who use the service and looked at two feedback questionnaires. People were satisfied with the care and treatment they had received and were happy living at the home.

Staff understood the importance of ascertaining capacity and getting a person's permission before delivering care. People who use the service were involved in developing their care plan and person centred documentation.

All people's risk assessments and care plans were up to date. Person Centred documentation was regularly updated and in place for all residents.

People were cared for in a generally clean environment by staff who had been through the organisations' recruitment process and subjected to the appropriate pre-employment checks. People who use the service were usually involved in the interview process. Staff had received training on infection control and there was a policy and procedure in place for infection control and food hygiene.

There was a complaints policy in place and people were given information and assistance in making a complaint.

We spoke to all four people living at Percy Road. They told us staff were very good and supported them in being independent. One person commented 'I really like living here, I am very happy. My room is really nice and I have all my favourite things with me'. Another person told us 'the staff help me when I ask them, they are really good and respect my decisions'.

There were health check records for all four people with information showing where and when they had attended appointments.

Staff were trained in safeguarding vulnerable adults and all staff were aware of the procedure to follow if an incident occurred. There was a policy and procedure in place for how to report any concerns, including to the local authority.

When staff started at the service they received an induction provided at the head office and in the home. Staff undertook mandatory training on an annual basis, including safeguarding and health and safety. There was a procedure in place for them to receive annual appraisals. Staff told us that they had one to one supervision meetings with the management team and were supported in their roles.

Staff at Percy Road monitored the services provided to the people living there. Regular questionnaires were completed requesting information on the services provided. People living at the home told us that they would be happy to raise any concerns with staff if they had any.
