During a routine inspection

We spent time talking with some people, and observed how they were being cared for. The atmosphere in the home varied between calm and at times quite noisy. Staff spoke with all the people and although we did not observe sign language being used by staff, we observed that hand signs and other body language were expressed by people to communicate their feelings and were understood by staff. Some people told us that staff helped them and that they had agreed to their treatment and to living in the home.

One person showed us their bedroom and told us they had been involved in choosing the decoration and the furnishings. Other people told us they had attended college and had recently attended a hospital appointment.
