All Inspections

2 January 2014

During a routine inspection

Our inspection was unannounced and lasted approximately six hours. During this visit, we inspected five outcome areas; all five were compliant.

There were nine people staying at the unit for reablement. We spoke with six people about their experiences whilst staying at Bodley Community Care Support Centre. People told us the staff were 'wonderful', 'caring' and 'very helpful'. Several people told us how 'nothing was too much trouble' for care and health staff. We also spoke with four staff members and the registered manager. We looked at a selection of care records, and also focussed on recruitment, staff training and quality assurance systems within the service.

People told us they were happy staying at Bodley Community Care Support Centre. They said they had been involved in the decision to participate in a reablement service. People's privacy and dignity was respected by staff. People's health and well-being was assessed, and care was provided in a way that suited people's individual needs.

There was a comprehensive training programme in place and staff had also been provided with training to safeguard vulnerable people. There were systems in place to measure the standard of care to ensure people received support and care which maintained their health and well-being.

26 March 2013

During a routine inspection

This inspection was carried out on the residential rehabilitation service only.

During our visit we spoke with a senior manager who was representing the provider, the deputy manager, six staff, and four people who were staying in the home. We found there was a positive and happy atmosphere throughout the home. People told us they had received support from the staff team to help them regain stamina and independence. This meant they were confident they would be able to return to their own homes safely at the end of their stay. One person described the staff as 'professional.' Another person said 'The care is very good.'

We observed people being supported by staff in a respectful, friendly and attentive manner. Staff respected people's privacy.

Medicines were stored, recorded and administered safely. Support was given to suit each person's individual needs to enable people to administer their own medicines wherever possible.

We found all areas of the home were bright, spacious, and suitable for the needs of people who stayed there. The building and gardens were well maintained. All areas were comfortable, attractively decorated and furnished to a good standard.

There were enough qualified, skilled and experienced staff to meet people's needs. There was a low staff turnover. Staff were positive and said there were good working arrangements that meant that people's needs were fully met.

There was an effective complaints system available.
