Our view of the service
Som Care Ltd is a domiciliary (Care at home) service that was first registered with CQC in July 2022. At the time of our assessment, they were providing care and support to four people in their own homes.
This was the first assessment of the service since they were registered with CQC. Following this assessment, we have rated the service good.
The performance of the service received praise from people receiving care, relatives, a stakeholder and the care staff team.
Day to day direct care and support was managed effectively and the provider and care staff team were able to demonstrate their open and inclusive values towards the people they support. There was a good degree of trust which also received praise from people being cared for who provided us with their views.
There were safe policies and procedures in place to manage medicines, provide safe care in people’s homes and to respond to anything of concern. The provider had effective systems in place to keep the performance of the service under review and to monitor emerging trends.
People's experience of this service
People using the service and relatives we spoke with were positive about the relationships they had with staff and the service and appreciated the quality of care they received. One person told us “I feel very much safe with the care provided. I trust my carer, they have my house keys, and I don’t give my house key to anyone.” Another person told us that during periods of poor health and physical pain, "I'm very happy. If it wasn't for them, I wouldn’t be here today."
A relative told us that “My [relative] is safe with Som Care. The carers are careful and always look out for them. If there is ever an issue, we speak to the manager, he deals with it properly and lets us know what the news is. I do not have any worries about risks that are not being managed.”
People we spoke with expressed their trust in the service and care staff and believed that they get the care they needed in a safe way that respects them as individuals. They believe that staff and the management of the service were approachable, listened and responded to their needs and wishes, treated them with respect and acknowledged their identity and lifestyle preferences.
